Annette Nielsen + Culinary Medicine NYC
A health and wellness specialist, Annette Nielsen’s career in food, nutrition and culinary programming started nearly 20 years ago. She has cooked in the kitchen of Glorious Food, tested recipes for the Center for Science in the Public Interest, helped launch and manage a shared-use kitchen, coordinated community farm-to-table events and leads culinary nutrition programming for medical residents, senior citizens and families.
An award-winning food writer, Annette’s work has appeared in national and regional publications such as Edible, Adirondack Life, Eating Well, The Saratogian, The Hill Rag and The Washington Post. She serves as a member of the NY Women’s Culinary Alliance, Chef’s Consortium and Food-Ed Steering Committee at the Tisch Center for Food, Education & Policy. She is also a board member for the NYC Nutrition Education Network.
Annette earned her BA in Fine Arts from Colgate University, MA in Writing from Johns Hopkins and completed her certification in Nutrition + Healthy Living from Cornell University. She has been appointed to serve on the Mayor-Elect's transition team on food and food policy in NYC.
She grew up in the Adirondacks, has lived in DC, and with her husband and child, calls Manhattan home.
Culinary Medicine NYC offers a straight-forward way to understand how delicious and nutritious food and cooking relate to personal health and wellness.
